I've had my XPS 9550 for a couple months now, and ever since I've had it, I've been getting BSOD's every couple of hours whenever I skype (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION). I've updated all of my drivers. I've even done a fresh install of Windows, and nothing is fixing this. Please help

Clean installation of Windows 10 stuck on formatting partition [Inspiron 5558]

I am trying to do clean installation of windows 10 on my dell Inspiron 15 5558 laptop.  However, during partition formatting step, windows 10 setup stuck and do not proceed. If I do not select the disk format step  and move with windows installation then it windows setup in "file copying" step.

I am using usb as installation media and booting it in UEFI mode.

I tried with secure boot option enable/disable and did not see any difference. I have tried two different bios version "A09" and "A13" and experienced the same problem .

I have feeling that something in firmware is preventing windows setup to modify the drive where I want to install the clean copy of windows. I have tried the installation in so many configuration and did not work. I tried to boot the usb in legacy mode but later during installation step, setup complains that drive has GPT configuration and cannot continue with installation.

Somehow, I cannot restore the computer to factory settings because I upgraded to windows 10 and did not create the recovery disk.

I would like to know that did anyone already experience this kind of problem. How can I approach the dell because my warranty expired 2 months back.

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Best Regards

From Windows 10 to Windows 7

Hi

I recently purchase Dell Inspiron 7000 and got Windows 10 with it.

However I would like to install Windows 7 as I use the computer everyday for work and it is simply the Windows version of my preference. Thus I have 2 questions:

1. Can Dell provide me with a Windows 7 OEM version or the ISO for it?

or 2. If not, can you please tell me would it affect my warranty if I purchase it myself?

Best

I have an XPS 8900 with windows 10 installed, it has both intel HD 530 and nvidia GT 730 video adapters. For some reason i cannot get the start menu to work, i have tried all the common fixes with no luck. However, if i disable the Intel HD 530 video adapter, my start menu starts to work just fine, i have the latest driver 21.20.16.4534, 10/07/16. i have also tried removing and reinstalling the adapter with no luck, as well as rolling back the driver to previous version. Any ideas on this one?

Anniversary Update causes freeze at lock screen

Old laptop dell, Core2 Duo. Windows Update still hasn't offered the Anniversary Update so I downloaded the installer (Windows10Upgrade28084.exe)today, and installed. After which, whenever waking from sleep, the lock screen would be totally unresponsive to keyboard and mouse; only solution was hard power-off. Oddly, lockscreen worked fine on initial startup. The wife won't put up with this, so I rolled back.

But I do want to eventually get to the Anniversary Update. When I try again with AU, what should I try to fix the frozen lock screen problem?

Win 10 Recovery Media Creator to USB HDD

I have a new XPS 8900.  I want to create recovery media on external Hard Disk Drive.  I took a 40GB HDD, and using Windows Disk Management, I created two NTFS partittions. about 19GB.  Once I started  recovery media creator, it changed partition scheme to a 32GB FAT32 and an 8GB unallocated.  Why does this happen?  I was told only 16GB is needed for the recovery media.  I thought I could use this 40GB HDD to hold two recovery partitions.

Upgrading Dell equipment to WIN 10

I have 2 HP and one Lenovo computers, plus a Dell SP2309W monitor. The HP and Lenovo computers all upgraded to WIN 10 and then the Anniversary Edition without problems, including the webcams on two of them. The only trouble I have had is with the Dell monitor, connected to my HP desktop, where the built in webcam crashes WIN 10 to the BSOD after installing WIN 10 anniversary edition. Dell just says blandly that they don't support WIN 10 with this monitor and that's that. I cannot help noticing the problems all posters to this forum have had with upgrading Dell computers to WIN 10, and the routine response from Dell that "they don't support WIN 10", even for fairly recent computers. I have to say this seems a very poor response from Dell, particularly when it is clear that other computer makers have worked with Microsoft to get appropriate new drivers in place to support their equipment. I'm very disappointed with Dell and will not consider them for any future computer purchase.

Hello,

This Windows 10 laptop has trouble awakening from sleep. My understanding is that it should wake up when I press any key or move my bluetooth mouse, but these don't work. Clicking the touchpad or pressing the power button are the only ways to wake it up. I've been through all the settings to no avail. Any thoughts?

Thanx,

Ron

Wireless(wfi) adapter stopped working in my Dell XPS 13 with Windows 10 64-bit

Dell Support,

I owned Dell XPS 13 and everything was working fine since yesterday but WiFi stopped working all of sudden since yesterday. I haven't made any changes to the laptop not even windows update. I updated the wireless drivers, disabled ,re-enabled the network adapter from network adapter settings but no luck. I even uninstalled the existing intel broad com wireless drivers and installed back  no luck. I installed Dell Dell wireless 1560 802.11ac driver but the issue still persists. I even reset my router to make sure that it's throwing the wifi, all other devices like desktop, mobile, tablet works fine with home wifi but not just this Dell XPS device. All I can see in the status tray is the square box with red sign.

Can anybody suggests the fix for this?

Failed installation of Win10 using Recovery and Restore

Have a Dell XPS18 tablet.  Long story short, it now has no OS.  Previously had the free upgrade of Win10.  Was directed by Dell to create a recovery disk, and I used a usb drive.  I downloaded the recovery files and was seemingly on my way to reinstalling the OS.  Late in the install, I received an error, "failed to repair boot files, no usb drive attached", which was odd since I'm installing from a usb drive. it said to remove any usb drives and restart, and when I do, I end up in an endless loop, where it fails at the same point.  No idea where to go from here.  Tablet is out of warranty.  Thoughts?

Dell drivers won't update properly?

Hey there...

I'm stuck in an attempt to update my DELL XPS 15 drivers. I've attached a screenshot of the updates which won't update properly. It downloads, says it needs a reboot in order to install - nothing happens. If I click on the Dell Update assistant again, the same 3 updates are shown as "downloadable".

Any solution to that problem? Thanks in advance.  (sorry, screenlanguage is german)

How to confirm that black screen originates due to my video card?

Hi,

Dell Vostro 3450 (Core i5 2410M, 4GB, 500GB, VGA 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6630M, 14 inch.
Unpredictably, my monitor goes black except for a brief message that there is no HDMI. Usually a cold boot is required to restart, then the system runs in a normal fashion.
The Event Viewer doesn't show any related events. System fans and power continue to run when the screen goes black. I presume it's the video card, but before I throw a couple of hundred dollars at the problem, I'd like to know how to check if it might be something else.
Also...what mid-range cards do you folks like for desktop and mid-range (non-twitch?) gaming? I play a lot of Witcher 3 for example-- and the video card performs adequately.

Thanks very much.

Can anyone help to resolve this issue?

Hello!

My Latitude E6410 is with a ricoh SD card reader which appeared in the device manager but did not work after a clean install of 64-bit Win10. I did not find any help on these forums.

I finally tried the Win7 driver from the support page of E6410 and it worked. The file I used is RICOH_R5U24X_A04_R263985.exe.
