I have the Dell XPS 8700 and have been trying for days to get the windows 10 upgrade. All of my drivers and the bios are up to date and I have followed every possible suggestion including disabling the firewall and anti-virus while trying to get the upgrade but I can't get the upgrade.
For my first attempt:
After getting the screen for the agreement and clicking yes I then got a screen stating that Windows 10 could not be installed - we couldn't update the system reserved partition.
The next time I tried I got the same error and when I went to Windows updates, reviewed the updates there was a message that it failed and the information gave me the failure number 80240020.
I did search that error/failure number and did all that was suggested and then tried again. But 3 times now I have tried and keep getting the error code 0xc1900200.
I have checked and my computer is compatible - even the dell site states that, all drivers and bios are updated. I have done everything I can think of to get this free upgrade yet, complete. Shortly after purchasing the computer I heard about the new operating system and just knew I should have waited to get a new computer and then I heard about the free upgrade so I wasn't worried. But no matter what I have tried it will not work.
I have checked the compatibility report and even ran it again and it states that my computer is completely compatible.
Does anyone have any suggestions. If I could have afford it, I would have gotten a longer warranty and gone to Dell about this issue (but when you are barely scraping by as it is, one simply can't manage to find any money to be able to purchase a longer warranty)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
