Windows 10

I am running on the latest BIOS A11, latest windows updates and drivers and still getting this. I have 2 more laptops about 3-4 years older from my Dell and both qualified for Windows 10. Is it me or are there other N5110 users getting this? Is there any other BIOS fix for this? Is there any official answer from Dell about this issue? Is there a possibility Dell fix this before 15 of September?

Dell Touchpad Driver v19.0.9.4 (A00) install failure

Dell XPS 12 9Q33

OS: Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit

Reinstalled the whole operation system (win8.1) rencently and update to Win10. Then found out I cant do gesture on my touchpad like i used to. Thought maybe because of the driver. So i download the touchpad driver file 'Input_Driver_GGWTC_WN32_19.0.9.4_A00.EXE' from Dell website to update the driver. However, It says 'the update installer operation is unsuccessful' at the end.

Please help! Or are there any other ways i can get the gesture function back? Thanks!!

the following is the installation log:

Intel HD 3000/2000 Graphics (Sandy Bridge) not supported in Windows 10 on Dell XPS 13 (L321X)

According to the Intel website, the HD 3000/2000 Sandy Bridge graphics are not supported in Windows 10. See link below. It's the very last one listed under Intel Core Processors:

www.intel.com/.../CS-034343.htm

I decided to give the Windows 10 upgrade a shot on my Dell XPS 13 L321X since my Windows Update told me that my system was Windows 10 compatible. However after the upgrade I noticed the screen would become distorted intermittently.

In the meantime, I've currently disabled the graphics drivers that Windows 10 automatically assigned to my computer after the upgrade in order to prevent the screen from distorting so I could post this message. While this current graphics mode (1024x768) is not pretty, I was hoping someone @ Dell was aware of this issue and if there will be a patch/fix for this issue?

It's a bit confusing that my system was considered to be Windows 10 compatible as evidenced by the update only to find out after-the-fact that Intel specifically mentions that my particular graphics driver is not Windows 10 compatible. And since this intermittent screen distortion validates the issue at hand, I'm afraid I'll have to revert back to Windows 7.

So if anyone @ Dell knows of a possible fix, I'd appreciate it.

Windows 10 on old (w/current BIOS) VOSTRO-200

For What It's Worth, FWIW

Windows 10 will not boot to a Dell VOSTRO 200.  I have been an early adopter of Windows 10 and had to run the nightly builds on an old Compaq laptop.  I run Win 7 on the VOSTRO and had hoped the released version of Win10 would run on the VOSTRO.  It downloads fine but as soon as the update starts it dies.  The VOSTRO is not certified for Win10 so that is just how things go but BEWARE...  Microsoft will not transfer the Win7 license to another hardware platform so if you have an older system that is not Win10 certified running a licensed verson of Win7 you are DOA!

Inspiron 3521 Will Not Cold Boot After Windows 10 Home Ugrade

$

I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Everything went fine until about a week later when I could no longer cold boot. I'd get the Windows logo and the spinning dots, but Windows would never load. I'd manually turn the power on and off several times until Windows diagnostics loaded. Then if I chose restart, Windows would load fine.

I tried turning fast start on and off, this made no difference.

So I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 Home from DVD. Once again, everything was fine for about a week, then the exact same issue started happening again. Once again, enabling or disabling fast start didn't make a difference.

Dell just had a BIOS update, which I thought might take care of the issue, but no such luck.  In fact, after the BIOS update, I can no longer access the BIOS.  When I hit F2 at startup, all I get is a blinking cursor.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix this? I had ZERO startup issues on Windows 8/8.1. It's very annoying to have to restart 3 times every time I want to cold boot.

FYI, warm boots have always worked fine under Windows 10.  I have no peripherals connected to my laptop.

Thanks for your help.

XPS 15 9530 not upgrading automatically

I have a 2015 model XPS 15 9530. Dell's web page has for quite some time now stated that this computer has been tested for upgrade to Windows 10. I reserved Windows 10 in the "Get Windows 10" app before the release, yet it still says that it is validating my computer.

I am aware that it is possible to manually download and install the upgrade, but I would prefer to avoid that. Does anyone know if the upgrade will start? Or is this an error in the app?

Thanks!

XPS 13 9343 Win10 Pre-Installed: Recovery Media creation unsuccessful

Hey!
I am using a Dell XPS 13 9343 (2015 infinity display edition) which came pre-installed with Windows 10 Home Single Language (64 bit) - i.e. not upgraded from windows 7 or 8.1.
So, it is a brand new laptop and I have not yet installed any apps or programs on it. All it has are the out-of-the-box apps and programs.

1. I tried today to make a Recovery Drive for it using "Create a Recovery Drive".
2. I checked (selected) the "Backup system files to the recovery drive" option.
3. Proceeded to select the USB drive. The required space was shown to be 8GB. So I used a 16GB USB Drive. (It is a Sandisk Cruzer Blade USB2.0 16GB Pen Drive).
(** I have tried creating the recovery disk on this four times: twice after formatting this USB as FAT32 and twice as NTFS - everytime I get the same error as I mention below.)
4. After that, it proceeds with its process. Takes about 20-30 minutes. Most of this time is spent on the "Backing up system files" and "Copying System" phases.
5. After completely filling the process bar Green (i.e. after the completion of the whole process), it shows me a window saying "We can't create the recovery drive A problem occurred while creating the recovery drive."

So that's the problem.
And after all this, when I browse through the pen drive, it has many files in it - and despite the program's initial claim that it needs 8GB, this pen drive is filled almost to the brim now, almost completely used.

PS: I have also checked my PC's Disk Mangament.
There are 2 memory partitions there (among others) that say "Healthy (Recovery Partition)": One is of 450MB, other is of 10.11GB.

Inspiron 7537 touch screen not working with windows 10

Hi,

My 7537 Inspiron touch screen is not working after the upgrade to Windows 10.

In device manager a USB device shows as unknown (yellow warning triangle), otherwise there are no indications to the source of the problem.  There is no other touch screen device showing in device manager. There do not appear to be any touch screen drivers on the Dell website.

Suggestions please ?

What is "Dell Customer Connect"? Google does not find an explanation

Subject says it. What IS all this software Dell installs without asking?

"Dell Digital Delivery" says it cannot connect to the Internet - which is stupid. What is it anyway?

a) What's the purpose of this Dell software?

b) Why does it say it cannot connect to the Internet? I *am* connected to the Internet. And all outgoing connections are allowed by my regular home router.

N5110 w/ Win 10 Hard drive at 100%. SO SLOW

I upgraded to Windows 10 on my A11 BIOS N5110 at the beginning of August and it ran great until about a week ago when it started running super slow. I noticed the HDD activity light was solid on, no flashes, after booting up. Looking at task manager, the hard disc is showing 100% utilization and the only way to get around this is to go into msconfig and disable basically everything and restart!.

I can't revert back to Windows 7 since it has been over 30 days. (BEWARE,only a 30 day window is given apparently after upgrading). I did not create a back-up disc during upgrade either : (

How slow is my laptop running now? I am attempting to back up my files in case the drive dies completely and so I have used a SATA cable and hooked up another hard drive to copy files. It took 28 hours to back up 50Gb worth of files!!!! That's how slow it is running!

I just want Windows 7 back now. 10 was OK, learning where and how everything worked kind of sucked though, and I had trouble getting my phone tethering software (PdaNet / FoxFi) to work.

Anyone having the same issue or have any information on what I can try next with Windows 10?

My Windows 7 came loaded on laptop and I don't even have the key info anymore. All the labels and stickers were lost when Dell replaced the case about 1.5 years ago. Will customer support be able to give me my key information?

Any help appreciated>

No bootable device found, press f1 and boots just fine

I have an inspiron 13 7000.  after windows 10 upgrade it became painfully slow.  i did a clean install of windows 10 form USB.  Now if i don't use the laptop for a prolonged time (4+ hours) i get  "no bootable device found pres f1 ...." message.  If i press F1 it boots up just fine.  There are no other issues.  I've flashed the most resent bios.  i suspect this  has something to do with me deleting all the partitions when i reinstalled windows (if it does, then shame on dell).  any idea on how to fix it?

Dell Update Popup

I keep getting a Dell Update Popup asking me to upgrade the Dell backup software. Even after I've reviewed it and clicked it numerous times it still keeps popping up.

I am sick to death of these takeover stunts that won't allow you to opt-out of an offer. Microsoft and now Dell.

This is the LAST Dell PC I will ever purchase.

I would appreciate any help with this, thank you all.

I also have an XPS one 2710. I keep getting popups to install Windows10 and the pc is not compatible. I have always owned Dells, but I think the end is near.  I not only blame Dell but also Microsoft. Microsoft should have a utility out there to check the computers compatibility.

Dell XPS 8300 and Windows 10

$

I too own a Dell XPS 8300 and the NIC and wireless connections kept dropping. Went to Dell site, got the first message. Now it has changed to say they will not be fixing any driver problems. If ya want Windows 10, it's your problem. This is what I did, it wasn't free, but the easiest fix. I bought a LynkSys dual band wireless n usb adapter, disabled the Broadcom junk in the computer, plugged it in, booted my computer and The Lynksys drivers loaded like they were made for the XPS 8300. I have had no problems since.  If you are connected via Ethernet, it appears you will have to buy a half card and open up the computer and plug it into one of the open slots. That's not that difficult either. I would not have been so mad if Dell would have just owned up to the problem and given people the fix. Dell wants to sell you a new computer. Well guess what Dell, this will be the last Dell I ever own. It's not warranted so Dell doesn't care about it's customers. Yes this problem is specific to Dell and Broadcom OEM junk.
