Hello
As per title, please could someone help me with a clean install of windows 10?
My Dell laptop was kaput straight out of the box and i've struggled to get it repaired fully since it arrived in November last year.
It is a brand new Inspiron 15 series 5559 laptop. It came with windows 10 pre-installed. Aside from updating a few drivers and windows updates I have nothing on this laptop I need to save - no data, software, etc. I really just want to completely wipe and start again.
I have downloaded the windows 10 ISO file from the microsoft website using the media creation tool. I burned the file to a DVD, though I could also put it on a USB pen if that is better?
The bit that I am struggling with (and typically is the bit that gets very vague in all of the tutorials I have been looking at on-line) is how to get the Dell laptop to recognise and boot from the DVD.
People talk about BIOS vs UEFI, disabling secure boot, legacy modes, etc. It all gets a bit confusing.
I think my laptop, being ony 2 months old, is UEFI rather than BIOS, and I have got as far as restarting whilst holding shift to take me to options screen. From there I have tried both "use a device" option, but ended up getting nowhere - it didn't seem to be able to locate the DVD drive, and also the "troubleshoot > Advance Options" which led me to a screen with all of the boot options and I just became confused.
Any help gratefully appreciated
Thanks
