I have a dell m5040 laptop, (2011)was running windows 7 , 64 bits. I upgraded to windows 10.
I foolishly didn't make sure update lastest version of windows 7,( SP1?) , didn't update drivers, BIOS , etc before I upgraded. but update usually regularly. Install failed. Now I'm getting black screen after signing in /or sometimes decktop display flashes on and off for few then going back to black screen, but have white mouse cursor display working.
Do I just uninstall windows 10, go back to window 7 (temporarily),then make sure everything updated before, then reinstall windows 10?
Or can I retroactively update drivers, etc. through task manager or different way as start menu is unaccessible,
Does anyone know if I can run windows 10 on my machine, as not tested or not necessarily recommended on Dell website.
I read also, need directX9 or better graphic card according to PC Magazine for windows 10 This is stock unit, haven't added graphic card, not a gamer
