Dell support on Dell products

Dell is cashing in on Windows 10 push especially if your system isn't under Warranty. I upgraded both my Dell Inspiron 5740 and Dell Venue 8 to Windows 10, uninstalled both install back to Windows 8.1. It took 10 days on the Venue to have Dell admit the COA is written over there was no way to restore it, I finally was able to buy a USB restore for Windows 8.1. My Inspiron was fine for over a month after removing Windows 10, today for some strange reason the Activation was removed, never have seen that before and I've built a lot windows systems over the years. When calling Microsoft I got the Microsoft/Dell run around and ended up with a Felix in Mumbai India who said I had to buy a $200 copy of Windows Pro 8.1 because I upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1 and Dell computer only for what was shipped on purchase even if they didn't send a CD.

I have setup and installed many networks over the years using Dell hardware, the products were reliable easy to configure. Well priced as well, especially when you're employed by a Fortune 100 company who invented the PC and would rather deploy Dell products. But that was then and this is now. I am going to submit a complaint to both the Texas *** General, Ken Paxton and Washington State *** General because this is like GM selling a car and after 2 years the motor just stops and GM says no repair you have to purchase the new type of motor because you didn't buy an extended Warranty. Like Ron White says, "You Just Can't Fix Stupid"
