I too own a Dell XPS 8300 and the NIC and wireless connections kept dropping. Went to Dell site, got the first message. Now it has changed to say they will not be fixing any driver problems. If ya want Windows 10, it's your problem. This is what I did, it wasn't free, but the easiest fix. I bought a LynkSys dual band wireless n usb adapter, disabled the Broadcom junk in the computer, plugged it in, booted my computer and The Lynksys drivers loaded like they were made for the XPS 8300. I have had no problems since. If you are connected via Ethernet, it appears you will have to buy a half card and open up the computer and plug it into one of the open slots. That's not that difficult either. I would not have been so mad if Dell would have just owned up to the problem and given people the fix. Dell wants to sell you a new computer. Well guess what Dell, this will be the last Dell I ever own. It's not warranted so Dell doesn't care about it's customers. Yes this problem is specific to Dell and Broadcom OEM junk.
