I just purchased an Alienware 13. I am a software developer and am interested in both the NVIDIA graphics hardware and the really nice quad-core processor. So not so interested in gaming, but I want a screaming notebook.
Came with Windows 8.1 on it right out of the box. OK, but I am really interested in Windows 10 on this machine. I also need to connect it to the office domain controller. I also want to keep the nice Alienware drivers and such.
Well, I updated to Windows 10 using the Microsoft update approach that I was prompted for during the initial set up. Now I have Windows 10 Home. This will not allow me to connect to the office domain. No password synchronization, no remote debug on other machines on the domain, etc. Not good.
My understanding is eventually there will be a Pro upgrade pack from Microsoft - not yet, but eventually - that will allow me to spend $100 to get this functionality. We are in the Microsoft Partner program so I can download Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise for free, but unless the update is done properly I would be losing the drivers and apps, right?
Is there a way with an MSDN-download .ISO to update this notebook to Windows 10 Pro?
