Dear All,
I would be very grateful for some advice regarding Windows upgrade.
I currently run vista on an inspiron 545 (early 2009). As I have a quad 2.6GHZ processor and 4GB RAM I should, on the face of it, be able to run windows 10 and I have been researching into upgrading from vista to 8 and then to 10.
I have run the windows 8 upgrade assist and apart from some apps issues (e.g. windows live and windows media player) the only issue I am unsure of is that my chipset firmware will not allow secure boot in 8. I have updated my firmware to the latest version on the dell website.
To be honest I'm not sure what the consequences of this are and I am also worried that my chipset firmware may become more of an issue when it comes to upgrade to 10.
I am loathe to consign my PC to the knackers yard as even by today's standard it is still a capable machine.
Any thoughts or advice will be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Jono
