Hi ,
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7537 laptop with original and validated 64 bit Windows 8.1 Single Edition operating system with the Spring 2014 package. Recently I get a notification from the GWX on the taskbar which says that Windows 10 is available and is ready to download and install it.
Of course I accepted the download option at the Windows Update.
Surprisingly though it was showing me that the update is of 2713.8 MB instead of what it should be ; more than 3 GB ( I read on the internet that the 64 bit version is about 3.5 GB). But I didn't interfere with the download process.
On completing download ; it went into a preparing for installation phase and was stuck there perpetually. I consulted the internet again ; and I got to know that the 32 bit version is of the exact same size ; viz 2713.8 MB . I stopped the installation ; then again started the update, now it has started downloading the same 2713.8 MB file again; which definitely wont work as my laptop is a 64 bit system and the update is for a 32 bit system.
Specs of the laptop :
Intel 4thGen i7 4500U
8 GB DDR3 RAM
2 GB GDDR5 Nvidia GT 750M
1 TB Seagate SSHD
My Questions :
1) Why is the update recognizing my laptop as a 32bit system ? I am very sure it is a 64 bit system as it has the ProgramFiles(x86) folder in the C drive and also specifies the same under This PC Properties.
2) If I use the Media Creation tool ; I probably will end up downloading the 32 bit OS if I choose to upgrade directly. So can you please specify which version of OS should I download as a ISO file ? I am pretty comfortable with using an ISO file.
Its urgent guys ; please respond soon !!!
