every so often a big notice about windows 10 updates covers the center of the screen in an overlay and i have to reboot to remove it.

I have a Dell laptop about a year old running windows 10.  Every so often a large box in an overlay covers the screen and shows text about windows 10 updates and how great they are.  There is no way to close it or remove it except to reboot the system.  Is there somewhere i can go to stop this?  Registery, app, hammer!
