Hello,
I made the error to upgrade to Windows10 (build 1607) before I became aware that this version was not supported for the XPS8500. I notice i did it more than one month ago.
Note that no Dell alert is brought back during the update which could have dissuaded me.
I notice that indeed some components do not work more or less well ex. : Bluetooth, GTX660 / HDMI / DualScreen, ........
First : I wished to do a downgrade to Windows 8.1 from my restore DVD previously created under Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, the restore procedure fails with code 0X400110020000100A.
Second : i tried this procedure from en.community.dell.com : philipyip.wordpress.com/.../. The installation stops with error code 0xc0000005 at 0% during File copy.. Note the UEFI BIOS SLP key is not found by the installation process. Is there one ? So I entered manually the key. I've got it previously under Windows 8.1 with a powershell procedure. Apparently it is a good one.
Also i must precise that during the installation process i deleted all the partitions except the primary one which contains all the current windows 10 system files. Must i delete it also before the 8.1 install ? If i delete it and the 8.1 install fail, will i can retieve my files after windows 10 reinstall ?
If someone can tell me the exact procedure to correctly reinstall Windows 8.1 on my XPS8500 (currently under Windows 10 I recall), i would be grateful.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
HL.
