Greetings. I am an experienced PC user and have built and upgraded many PC's. I am going through and upgrading all of my remaining various legacy systems that I can to Windows 10 with limited issues.
I KNOW the Inspiron 1520 is not tested by Dell for Windows 10 compatibility. Certainly from a hardware power standpoint (T2330 Dual Core Pentium 1.6, 4GB of memory, discrete NVIDIA GeForce 8400M) it passes the Windows 10 minimum. I have done extensive online searches and a few have reported success while others have had issues.
I am currently running Windows 7 SP1 32bit which I installed clean when first received.
Anyway, here is my question. I may decide that it is not worth the hassle to try to get this upgraded to Windows 10 in my usual planned fashion. However, other people use this on occasion and I suspect that eventually the magic little upgrade icon will show up.
I would think that if a laptop has the specs. to pass the Windows 10 OS test for upgradability and will get the Windows 10 upgrade icon there should be a plan as to how to handle.
Or perhaps there are more people than I found that upgraded successfully. My usual method will not work....upgrade most recent drivers pre-windows 10 upgrade, then after upgrade update all to most recent windows 10 drivers. The most recent drivers on the Dell site are Vista.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks.
