Safely Remove Hardware icon won't go away, XPS 8900

XPS 8900, Windows 10. On the taskbar, lower right corner, the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon shows and won't go away. I've had this computer for a few days and the icon has been there from the beginning. This pops up when I click on it:

Clicking on the 3 dots does nothing, clicking on Open Devices and Printers, opens devices and printers in control panel. If I plug in a flash drive or and then click on the icon, this pops up:

I click on Eject... and then it tells me it's safe to remove hardware. Okay, I understand all of that. But when the only thing plugged into the computer is the keyboard and the mouse, why is that icon there? My old computer had Windows 10 installed and that icon only appeared when I plugged something into one of the USB ports, it wasn't there all of the time. On this computer, why is the icon there all of the time, even when nothing (except the keyboard and mouse) is plugged into a USB port?
