New Latitude 3550 with Win 8.1 Pro to Win 10 Pro

Just bought a couple of Latitude 3550 laptops with Win 8.1 Pro installed that I want to upgrade to Win 10 Pro.

I noticed after I received, that they didn't have internal DVD drives, so I picked up an external DVD drive to use my Dell supplied Windows 10 Pro installation DVD. However, I can't quite figure out how to install from it? I don't seem to be able to boot from the DVD for some reason, and when I access the DVD through Win 8.1, there is no way to start an install?

I had read that if you had an ISO of the install DVD that you should be able to double click from within Win 8.1, but that just mounts and opens the image.

I know that I can do the upgrade online, but I was hoping to avoid the 3 GB download.

Can anyone offer suggestions?
