Adobe Pro digital download link not working

$

I purchased Adobe Pro from Dell online.  I received the confirmation and subsequent email saying it was completed.  I followed the link to my My Locker account where it showed my confirmed purchase.  There was a link that said "Download Link."  This is the only thing that could be clicked.  After clicking it a program was downloaded (smartsource.MediaManager.application).  Every time I try to run this program it fails.  I can upload the error report, but it says to contact the supplier.  I don't anticipate support from Dell any time soon.  Now I've paid for software and not able to use it.

Enable UEFI on Dell Optiplexs using SCCM Task Sequence

$

I work in an organization that over 80% of the PC's we support are Dell Optiplex's. With SCCM, we deploy Windows 7 to these computers through a Task Sequence and that set standard Dell BIOS settings in WinPE using the Dell Command Configure tool. This has worked great for having all our machines in legacy mode, but with trying to move to Windows 10, I want to be able to change the Dell BIOS from legacy to UEFI automatically through the task sequence. I can set the BIOS to UEFI mode, and I can enable secure boot and all the other settings, but for some reason as soon as I restart the computer after making those settings changes, the computer cannot find the hard drive anymore. After the computer reboots, it enables the NIC card for PXE boot, but not the hard drive as shown below.

So here are my basic steps for accomplishing this so far.

1. Reboot computer into Windows PE

2. Format the drive with MBR so I can download the CCTK files

3. copy CCTK files to X:\CCTK

4. Clear and set the Dell BIOS password

5. Activate UEFI Mode

6. Set boot order and all other settings by importing custom ini file.

7. Restart Computer

Attached is my Task Sequence log to be looked at well. Below are my task sequence settings to make the change from legacy to UEFI on Dell Optiplexs. I have tried this on multiple Optiplex 7010's and 7020's with the same results. If anyone has any suggestion on how to change BIOS from legacy to UEFI in a task sequence on Dell's Optiplex's I would greatly appreciate it.

Here is also a copy of the ini file I am using to try and apply the UEFI boot order.

Factory Restore Image for Dell XPS 9550 15"

Due to an oversight, I've had to download the Windows 10 (plus Dell extras) Image ISO at http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN297920.

However, I can't burn it to a DVD as it's 6.49Gb in size. The file is called RN4DFA00_W10x64ROW_core(DL)_v2.iso.

However, it doesn't seem to be recognised as an ISO file. I can't burn it to a blank 25Gb Blu-ray disk either although I have a BR burner.

Not possible to use a USB stick as I don't have a spare one, let alone it being big enough in any case until I get some 32Gb sticks by the end of next week.

I tried the free burning software without success and some of them have viruses. Can I do anything now to fix things by resetting to the factory settings? Thanks in anticipation.

Unable to restore data with Dell Backup & Restore

Hi all,

my Latitude E6540 refused to boot this morning and all automatic repair options failed. No sweat I thought and installed a Windows System Image created about a month ago. Now I proceeded to restore the missing data using DBR - I'm doing automatic daily backups - only to find out that this software apparently requires a system backup to work. The problem is that after the last update, DBR refused to accept my Toshiba usb hard drive for system backups, stating that this media device could not be used for system backups - that's why I created a Windows System Image. Nowhere does it state that DBR does not backup data at all if a different software is used for system backups. It seems to me that this is a pretty sh.... piece of software (I bought the premium version). I have learned it the hard way. From now on I will not rely anymore on Dell software for backups. Just thought I'd let everybody know.

Downgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 7

I have a Dell Inspiron 3647, that came from the factory with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit. I upgraded for the free Windows 10, and after several months of  using it I continued to have compatibility problems with my software programs I was using. I now want to downgrade and go back to my Windows 7 operating system. Because of the time period, I can not go back to Window 7. It is no longer on my computer. I have the installation disc and drivers disc. Can someone tell me where there is a good tutorial that I can use to do a clean installation and put back my Windows 7? I want to format my hard drive and start over.

Thanks,

100% Disk usage; Windows 10; Alienware x51

100% disk usage. CPU 7%; Memory 62% (firefox); Network 0%. Used space: 1.48 TB; Free Space: 333 GB (1.81 TB capacity). File System: NTFS. 64-bit Operating System; 8GB RAM. i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, Windows 10.

I can't bring down the disk usage. I've disabled Superfetch, BITS and the Windows Search Service. I uninstalled Viber and Skype.  I stopped Windows from using my PC to share/deliver updates. I updated my BIOS. I ran a system assessment (F12) The Disk usage doesn't seem to change from 97-100% usage. I'm at a complete loss.  Any ideas?

Plus, I have this weird Ethernet usage that I can't explain:

DELL INSPIRON 620 AND WINDOWS 10

I had upgraded from WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM to WINDOWS 10. The feel and look of Windows 10 was awesome. But, unfortunately, I had to revert back to Windows 7 Home Premium because there is no driver support for LAN and DVD Writer. It was quite disappointing. Hope DELL and MICROSOFT come up with complete set of drivers for this system model.

No Internet connection -- Upgrading Vostro 3700 from Windows 7 to Windows 10

I successfully upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my Vostro 3500 computer, but when I tried to do the same on my Vostro 3700 running the very same operating system, I ran into trouble.

On the Vostro 3700 everything in Windows 10 seems to be okay, except I cannot connect to the Internet. To make Windows 7 run properly after a complete system wipe and reinstall, I had to install two network drivers which I obtained from the Dell site. They work in Windows 7, but one will not install in Windows 10.

If the Vostro 3500 can run Windows 10, it seems that the Vostro 3700 should be able to, also.

Random BSOD

I have a new XPS 15 9550 running windows 10. At random times I will get a BSOD and the computer will be force to reboot. This will occur when I am working on the laptop and even happen when I am away from my desk, I will return and find the system has rebooted.

Tried reinstalling drivers, the problem still occurs.

Nothing that stands out to me is showing in the event viewer, all the errors appear to be related to the system rebooting unexpectedly.

At a loss as to what to try next.

Windows 10 install on SSD partition, reorders drive letters

$

I loaded Windows 10 onto a 64G partition on the SSD. Fires up fine, but the drives have been renumbered beginning with the OS partition as C: and then the partitions on the HDD partitions, then the partitions on the SSD.

My partitions are named, by first HDD partition then by SSD partition. With A18B being the computer name, when the system is installed on the "A18B T" partition, the drive letters are reordered such as:

A18B T (C:)
A18B C (D:)
A18B D (E:)
. . .
A18B R (S:)
A18B S (T:)
A18B U (U:)
A18B V (V:)

Is there a way to keep the drive letters from reordering?

I have Windows 10 running on volume P7811FX J (J:).  So I know it does not have to be drive C:

Insistent Backup & Recovery Upgrade nag popup

Does anyone know a way of killing forever the insistent upgrade nag popup that Dell Backup & Recovery displays on every single boot?  Other than buying the upgrade, that is.

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently and I now get this popup on every boot.   You have two options; "Show me the benefits" or "Do nothing".  It doesn't matter which option you choose, the popup returns on the next boot.

I'd like to keep the 'basic' version, and have it running should I ever need it.  But if it's going to constantly nag me in this fashion I'm deinstalling.  Windows 10 comes with its own, perfectly adequate, system backup and restore.

Unable to install Windows 10 on a new HD using Dell W10 DVD

I just bought a new Precision 3620 that came with Windows 7 and also the Windows 10 pro install DVD. I have it all setup with 7, but i wanted to test out 10 on a separate HD. Im using a brand new drive here and i use UEFI boot to the DVD and i get tot he part where it says reset, troubleshoot, or turn off. So i choose to reset and it says the disc is missing a needed partition. So then i go in to troubleshoot and i select recover from disc and it looks like it loads until it gets to like 89% and it scans all the drives associated with my card reader and it fails to find an image. Then it restarts and then it goes back into the menu where you select reset, troubleshoot or turn off.

Do these disks actually work or do i have to install 7 and then upgrade? Not sure if i am doing something wrong here, but any help is appreciated.

Screens vanish after Windows 10 upgrade

I have a Optiplex 9020 computer and it was upgraded to Windows 10. Now when the user is typing or working in any program her open programs will vanish. You can see a ghost outline of the box and if you wiggle the mouse they will come back. We have dual monitors hooked up and this happens to both screens. I have checked that we have all the latest updates. This is not happening to anyone else who was upgraded to Windows 10 and use the same programs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Windows 10 problems with Alienware M14x

I have recently found out that my laptop doesn't go well with windows 10. So I did a reinstall thinking that would help, but it didn't. I can't even go back to window 7 even with the recovery CD. All of my Alienware apps are gone, none of my game files were saved, even though I made sure I wanted to save my files. I don't really know how, but I really want to go back to Windows 7 home. Or at least get my WIndows 10 working properly. And if possible, re-download Alienware Command Center.

How to use Dell recovery USB drive?

$

The computer is an XPS 8900 with Windows 10 (less than 2 months old). I have a recovery USB drive that I got from Dell today:

I've been trying to boot from this USB drive but have been unable to. I don't have a problem with my computer, I just want to make sure the USB drive works and I'll be able to boot from it if I ever do need to. With the USB drive plugged into the computer I turn the computer on and go into the BIOS. "Boot Sequence" shows "Windows Boot Manager" and "UEFI: TOSHIBA MSFT NORB PMAP":

The Toshiba listing must be the flash drive because when I go into the BIOS without the drive plugged in, it's not listed:

With the drive plugged in I can change the boot sequence so that the drive boots first, or I can uncheck "Windows Boot Manager" so that only the drive shows. I've tried this both ways, with the same results. I get a black and white screen with the Dell logo, then a couple screens where I choose my language and keyboard layout. I then get a screen where I have a few choices. Exit and continue to Windows, shut off the computer, "Use a device - Use a USB drive, network connection, or Windows recovery DVD", or troubleshoot:

I choose "Use a device" and the next screen shows "Use a device" and listed there (the only thing listed) is "UEFI: TOSHIBA MSFT NORB PMAP" (the same thing I selected to boot from in the BIOS):

I click on this. I get a blank screen, the Dell logo, and then the same language, keyboard and choose device screens that I got before. I choose "UEFI: TOSHIBA MSFT NORB PMAP". I then get the Dell logo and then choose language, keyboard, device... The computer won't boot from the USB drive, I keep getting the same screens over and over. Am I doing something wrong?

Dell Backup & Recovery System Backup (full version) stops (at 12%)

Hi everybody,

I have an Inspiron 7548 4K with W10 (upgraded from 8.1) and since a few days I've been having the following problem with DBAR (1.9.X.X). When I try to take a SYSTEM back up, it ALWAYS stops/fails to complete at 12% during the Backing Up module (checking system and building list complete OK). The message is "Operation Cancelled. Destination location unavailable or not enough space on the disk". It always happens at 12% of the process. I have tried it more than 10 times, with no avail. Further info:

1. The only change in my system was a W10 update of March 23, 2016. NOTHING else. Up until then everything worked fine.

2. Tried with both the external HDD with previous/existing backups AND a new/clean one. Both are 500 GB for backing up the internal 256 GB, so there is more than enough drive space. Also tried different usb ports in case one was malfunctioning.

3. Recovery media backup works fine. The problem is when it tries to proceed with system backup. I don't take data backups since I use cloud.

4. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling DBAR, keeping it below latest version 1.9.2.8. Same result.

Anybody?

Thanks,

Michael
