Win. 8.1 Pro upgrade to Win. 10 standard or 10 Pro?

$

The reason I need to know if I can upgrade from 8.1 Pro to win.10 standard insteàd of to10 Pro is because my HP PSC 1401 All-In-One printer is not compatible in 8.1 Pro but is in 8.1 standard so I can only assume it will be   compatible in Win.10 standard as well and not be in 10 Pro.

The printer worked fine on an Acer with Win. 8.1 standard until it's hard drive went out.

I don’t need the pro edition but that's what came preinstalled on the new Dell.

GWX notification doesn't show on taskbar

I've recently bought (April 2015) a brand new Alienware 15 R2, coming with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. Despite that I can't see the Get Windows 10 update app. I'm 100% sure I've the necessary updates and that my Windows copy is genuine. Any suggestions?

P.S. I read the FAQ and I checked every point highlighted by Microsoft.

Shutdown And Restart Not Completing After New SSD W10 Install

Hello everyone, I recently bought a new SSD and did a clean install from the ISO image of windows 10 build 10130.

I got most of it set up but for some reason when I shutdown the computer everything turns off but the tower seems to hang. I have to hold down the power button on the tower to fully shut it down.

The same when I click restart, it hangs on the restart page with the dots going around in circles. I have to shut it down manually to get to turn back on.

Im pretty sure its a driver issue but cant find which driver.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Inspiron N5110 Bios is not supported for Windows 10

I have a 3 years Dell Inspiron N5110 i5/8GB ram/Nvidia with Windows home Premium. Very happy with its performance and quality. Today i tried to reserve the Windows 10 copy via the Get Windows10 app. After having trouble to make the icon visible in my toolbar i clicked to to make the reserve and came up with this message...

I am running on the latest BIOS A11, latest windows updates and drivers and still getting this. I have 2 more laptops about 3-4 years older from my Dell and both qualified for Windows 10. Is it me or are there other N5110 users getting this? Is there any other BIOS fix for this? Is there any official answer from Dell about this issue? Is there a possibility Dell fix this before 29 of July?

Dell Inspiron N5110 not supporting Windows 10?

I will try one more time to make this post cause the previous one never went live.

I have a 3 years old Dell Inspiron N5110 i5/8GB ram/Nvidia/ Win 7 home premium and i am very happy with its performance and build quality. Yesterday i tried to reserve a Windows 10 copy and after having trouble to make the icon pop in my taskbar, i managed to get it popped.

When i clicked on the Get Windows 10 app icon to get the reserve it came up with this message...

"BIOS isn't supported"

I have 2 more laptops that are 2-3 years older than my N5110 and both are qualified and reserved the update...

I am running the latest BIOS A11, all windows updates and latest drivers for this machine and wanted to ask:

Is it me or other N5110 users getting this message?

Is there any other BIOS update that i might missing to get his to work?

Is Dell going to fix this till 29 July and when Windows 10 go live?

An official reply or if there is an official link from Dell for this issue would be appreciated.

I just had chat session with tech support and they said they don't have a driver for this printer at this time and  it might not work with win 10. I don't want to buy a new printer. Does anyone know if it will work with win 10?

Get Windows 10 App - How? It's A Mystery

There is a forest of advice about how to cope if the Get Windows 10 Icon doesn't appear on the task bar, but none of it seems very straightforward.

I have just bought an Inspiron 13 7000 series 2-in-1 which doesn't have the icon, so I can't register.  My problem is that all the advice sends me off to Microsoft, whose advice is not only non-Dell specific, but is also very nested and complicated to follow.

I'm not keen to follow the advice to start plumbing the depths of Batch Files and Command Prompts (come on, this is 2015!), without being sure there isn't a simple answer to why the App is hiding or missing.  Perhaps my new PC isn't capable of running Win 10?  I would be seriously disappointed if so, but without the app I can't check.  Perhaps there is some other reason my "device is . . . excluded from this reservation offer", but I don't know how to confirm that.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Will I need to change to the key on the back of my machine before upgrading to windows10? My system came pre-installed with windows 7?  The key is a legal oem slp key.  I bought this computer from Wal-mart.com  it was not a market place seller either.

Vostro 3500 NVidia ge-force 310m windows 10 driver

I have a dell Vostro 3500 which was released early 2010. The windows 10 upgrade app tells me I cannot upgrade to windows 10 because of the NVidia GeForce 310m driver is not compatible.

I also have an inspiron 1545 released late 2008 this can be upgraded to windows 10.

I have looked into this driver issue as I have been running windows 8.1 on the Vostro 3500 laptop for sometime. However the graphics driver sometimes crashes and has to recover. While this is useable it is not ideal.

In order to run windows 8.1 I had to download and install the old XP 64bit driver and run it in compatibility mode and as administrator. This took some effort and messing about to get it to work as well as it does.

However I have tried to install windows 10 preview on the system it will not let me install at all so I cannot even get to the point where I can try the windows XP driver. When I try to install directly on this system.

However I did install windows 10 preview on a different dell laptop the is compatible and them moved the hard drive into the Vostro 3500 to see what would happen.

Windows 10 worked on the laptop except for the GeForce 310m which had a exclamation mark in device manager. and it too sometimes crashed and had to recover

This is telling me the only thing stopping this laptop running windows 10 is the lack of a dell GeForce 310m driver

Will dell be releasing an updated driver for this graphics card as it seams very unfair that one laptop over a year older than the other can upgrade while the newer higher spec one cannot. Just because DELL cannot be bothered to come up with a new driver for windows 8.1 and windows 10

Windows 10 upgrade

I have Inspiron One 2330 with Windows 8.1 (64-bit).  Reading various forums, we're supposed to get an icon on computer during one of the windows updates to be able to register for the windows 10 upgrade.  I have not received this.  Then I read that certain computers do not qualify and then others that may have certain features turned off and that's why you've not received the invite.

I have automatic windows updates, so how do I get this update invite for my personal computer?

I guess windows 10 would be the last version in this series, but the corporation has to reconsider the next release based on the whole lot of fans it has worldwide.

Is Dell going to offer the FREE Win 10 upgrade (with the appropriate Dell drivers and software) to owners of Dell Laptops running Win 7 or Win 8.1?

I've searched the Dell.com website and cannot find anything indicating that Dell is.
